Information about Metal Pokémon Cards
Metal Pokémon cards were first introduced in October 2021 with the release of the Celebrations Ultra-Premium Collection. This box contained two metal cards: a replica of Base Set Charizard and a Base Set Pikachu.
What makes these cards special:
- Completely made of metal instead of cardboard
- Exclusively available through Ultra-Premium Collection boxes
- PSA 10 copies are extremely scarce, as these cards are very susceptible to damage and often come out of the box with minor imperfections
Later releases followed with the Arceus Ultra-Premium Collection (2022) and the 151 Ultra-Premium Collection (2023), which added new metal cards, often in full color instead of gold.
To date, only a very limited number of official metal cards have been released by The Pokémon Company, giving them a unique position in the hobby.
