Frequently Asked Questions

What is a graded slab?

A graded slab is a Pokémon card that has been evaluated by an official grading company and placed in a hard, sealed case. The label includes the score, set information, and a unique serial number.

Which grading companies do you use?

We sell slabs from brands like PSA, Beckett, and CGC. These are world-renowned and reliable.

What does the grading score mean?

The grade (for example, PSA 9 or PSA 10) indicates the condition of the card. The higher the grade, the better the condition and often the higher the collector's value.

How are slabs packaged for shipping?

Slabs are always extra protected with bubble wrap and sturdy boxes, so they arrive undamaged.

Do you send cards for grading?

No, we don't offer this service. We only sell pre-graded Pokémon cards (slabs) that have been evaluated by official grading companies.

Why and how do slabs grade?

More and more collectors are choosing to grade there Pokémon cards. There are several reasons for this: some do it because a bib card often increases in value, others because they want extra protection for their valuable cards. And of course, there are also many people who simply think a bib card looks better and adds more appeal to their collection.

Grading is done through official grading companies such as PSA or BGS. You can submit and submit cards yourself on their websites. They often work with bundles: The more cards you send at once, the cheaper it is per card. If you only want to send a few cards, it might be smarter to do this through specialized Pokémon companies that have a grading service. They send larger batches of cards to PSA every week, and you can include your cards in the collection for a fixed fee.

At RareCards, we don't offer a grading service ourselves, but we always recommend exploring the options carefully and choosing what best suits your situation and collection.

PSA Slabs

There are several grading companies active today, such as BGS and CGC, but PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) is by far the best-known and most highly regarded name in the Pokémon TCG world. PSA slabs are recognized worldwide and are typically the most valuable.

A PSA 10 (Gem Mint) often has a higher market value than a BGS 10 or a slab from another grading company, even if it's the exact same card. This is due to the enormous reputation, reliability, and status PSA has built up in recent years. For many collectors, a PSA slab is the gold standard.
