As a collector, you naturally want to know how much your Pokémon cards are worth. Their value can vary based on several factors. Follow this step-by-step guide to quickly estimate the value of your cards. Let's get started!
Step 1: Check the condition of the card
Condition is one of the biggest factors determining a Pokémon card's value. The better the condition, the higher the value. There are several gradations used to describe condition:
- Mint (perfect) : No damage, sharp corners, scratches or creases.
- Near Mint (almost perfect) : Small, almost invisible flaws may be present.
- Lightly Played (light damage) : Some visible defects such as small edges or superficial scratches.
- Moderately Played : Visible damage such as creases, larger scratches, or corners that are starting to fray.
- Heavily Played (Very Damaged) : Major damage, tears, or folded corners.
Make sure you look at your cards carefully and assess their condition honestly. The value varies significantly between a Mint card and a Heavily Played card. We always use this guide to check condition.

Step 2: Find the value on Cardmarket
Now that you know the condition of the card, you can look up its value on Cardmarket .
We use Cardmarket because it accurately reflects European market value .
How to find a map:
- Type the name of the Pokémon , for example "Charizard" .
- Add the first part of the card number .
-For example, if the card has the number "183/165" , then you only search for 183 . - So you search for “charizard 183” , this way you will quickly find the right card.

Step 3: Apply the correct filters
Found the right map? Then it's time to set the right filters .
In any case, filter by:
- Language
- Condition
Now you'll see all the cards offered that match yours. This gives you a good idea of the average market value of your card.

Step 4: Determine the value accurately
While you now have an idea of the value, it's important to look a little deeper.
Please note the following:
- Number of cards offered: When there are only a few copies for sale, the price may be higher.

-
Sales chart: On Cardmarket you can see when and for how much cards have been sold.
Note that this graph doesn't automatically include your filters; it also shows ticket sales in other languages or conditions.

- Price comparison: Look at the lowest prices in your language and state. This often provides the most realistic market value.
We use the sales chart to see the actual price of tickets. If the cheapest tickets are around €100 and most sales are around that price, that's usually the true value.
Extra: The value of graded cards
For PSA graded cards you are better off using PriceCharting .
This site shows recent eBay sales, ideal for determining the current market value of graded cards.
Search here in much the same way as on Cardmarket: enter the card name (e.g., "Charizard PSA 10" ) and see the results. PriceCharting lets you:
- See the average price of the card.
- An overview of recent sales , perfect for getting a realistic picture of the current market.
