Pokémon Booster Boxes

Pokémon booster boxes are incredibly popular in the TCG world, and for good reason. There are essentially three types of collectors and players who buy them:

• The opener: this person often chooses an English booster box, because it contains no fewer than 36 booster packs. Perfect for hours of opening packages and enjoying the excitement.
• The collector: Many people simply think booster boxes look incredibly cool and want at least one (or sometimes more) of each set in their collection. And let's be honest: a sealed booster box always looks impressive on your shelf.
• The investor: Booster boxes are also popular as an investment. And that makes sense, because prices can rise sharply. A good example: a Evolving Skies booster box in January 2024, the price was still around €450. Just a year later, in January 2025, the same box went for €1250 of the hand. That's almost x3 in a year!

Whether you open, collect or invest, buying a booster box is always a fun choice.

The two most common types of booster boxes are the English and the Japanese. But what exactly is the difference? We'll explain below:

The English

With the English variants you actually have three types:

• normal booster box, this contains 36 booster packs as standard.
• half booster box, the same box, but with 18 packs.
• Enhanced booster box, also 36 packs, but with an extra box topper: a special promo card which is often worth quite a bit. Tip: put it in a sleeve and top loader to protect him.

The Japanese

In the Japanese variants there are even four types:

• 30 packs.
• 20 packs.
• 10 packs.
• Deluxe booster box: this only contains 4 packs, but each pack has a whopping 35 cards!

In addition, Japanese booster boxes have another big advantage: each box contains guaranteed at least one Special Illustration Rare with English boxes, you don't have that guarantee, which makes Japanese boxes extra interesting.
