If you collect Pokémon cards or sealed products, you naturally want to protect them as well as possible and be able to show them off. More and more collectors use an acrylic box for that. But what exactly is it? And why would you use one?

Protection & quality
A good acrylic box protects your products against dust, dirt and moisture. Some models even offer protection against UV light, so your cards or boxes do not discolour in the sun.
Acrylic is also stronger than ordinary plastic. It is scratch-resistant and does not break easily. Of course you still need to be careful with it, but your items are far safer than without any protection around them.
Acrylic box sizes
There are many types of acrylic boxes, made specifically for:
- Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs)
- Booster packs or bundles
- Deck boxes
- Slabs (such as PSA, BGS or CGC graded cards)

Most acrylic boxes are completely transparent, so you can see exactly what is inside. Some have a light tint or UV coating for extra protection.

Do keep in mind that after a few years acrylic can sometimes yellow or craze if the quality is poor. Do not put it in direct sunlight and clean it with a soft cloth.
