If you are a little familiar with the world of Pokémon, you will of course know the booster packs, elite trainer boxes and booster boxes. But in recent years you have also increasingly seen something else on the shelves: the Pokémon Bundles . A handy package with multiple boosters, often without all the extras such as sleeves or dice.

Many people wonder: when did Pokémon actually start with these bundles? And which bundle was the very first? In this blog I will give you the full overview, including release dates, original prices and tips on which bundles are interesting to keep.

What exactly are Pokémon Bundles?

As you know, bundles are a kind of intermediate variant. You get a stack of boosters (often 6), but without the luxurious edge of an Elite Trainer Box. No sleeves, no markers, no dice. Just the packs, tightly packed in cardboard. Ideal for people who only go for opening the cards or for collectors who are looking for sealed bundles without losing a lot of extra space.

The price is usually slightly below that of an Elite Trainer Box, making it an attractive option.

When did Pokémon start having Bundles?

Pokémon started releasing bundles relatively late. The very first official Booster Bundle came with the Lost Origin set, part of the Sword & Shield series. It was released on:

  • 📅 September 9, 2022
  • 💶 Original edition price: €29.99

Contents of this first bundle:

  • 6 booster packs from Lost Origin
  • No extras, just the boosters in a compact cardboard packaging

I remember there was a lot of discussion when this bundle came out. Some collectors thought it was a nice addition, others missed the extras. Still, the bundles turned out to be perfect for people who just want to rip packs without too much fuss.

Below I will give you an overview of all Pokémon Bundles that have been released so far. Including release date, original edition price and the contents. This way you know exactly what to look for when you want to buy bundles or keep them sealed.

Which Pokémon Bundle is popular for collectors?

To be honest, you can see that especially the first bundle of Lost Origin is now loved by collectors. This is simply because it was the very first official Pokémon bundle ever. Sealed, these bundles remain quite rare, because many people simply opened them.

The Obsidian Flames Booster Bundle is also starting to gain popularity, especially due to the presence of Charizard ex as a chase card.

I personally always keep a few sealed copies of the first print of each bundle. Especially with the popular sets, such as Lost Origin and Obsidian Flames, this can be a smart move in the long run.

My advice as a collector

Are you looking for a fun, compact way to open or collect packs? Then a bundle is definitely a good option. I especially recommend keeping the Lost Origin Booster Bundle sealed, simply because it was the first one. That often has that little bit of extra collector value.

But don't forget: collect what you like. That makes your collection personal and unique. 🚀
