This series revived the second generation of Johto Pokémon with a nostalgic design and updated gameplay mechanics. The series introduced Pokémon Prime and Legend cards, featuring legendary duos such as Lugia & Ho-Oh or Entei & Raikou on two cards. The classic Trainer card style also returned, creating a familiar yet fresh gameplay experience. HeartGold SoulSilver is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and thematic series in the TCG.
