All about Pokémon POP Series 1

POP Series 1 is the first set of the POP series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, released on 1 September 2004. The set holds 17 cards that were only handed out at tournaments and events.

POP stands for Pokémon Organized Play, the tournament programme of those years. That makes these cards different from almost everything in the game: they were never sold in a shop. You got them by taking part in a tournament or league, and only years later did they reach the market through collectors. The series holds nine sets of 17 cards each.
