The upcoming Scarlet & Violet – Black Bolt & White Flare set promises to be one of the most unique Pokémon TCG sets of the year. This set is all about the battle between light and darkness , featuring powerful Pokémon that each have their own style and effects. But what makes this set so special? And which cards should you definitely keep an eye on? Let's dive in.

No Booster Boxes But Many Products

What immediately stands out with Black Bolt & White Flare is that there are no traditional booster boxes being released. Instead, the set focuses on special releases such as ETBs, blisters, binders and collector sets .

This makes the set harder to complete, but does increase the collectible value of the individual cards. Especially the promo cards that are exclusive to certain products are extra sought after.

Chase Cards in Black Bolt & White Flare

As you know, every new Pokémon set is all about that one rare card that everyone wants. In Black Bolt & White Flare, there are a few cards that are already considered chase cards . Here they are:

🔥 Black Bolt Chase Cards

  • Zekrom ex (BWR): New 'Black White Rare' rarity with monochromatic background. This card has a menacing look and an intense holofoil effect.
  • Serperior ex (SIR): Special illustration card with unique artwork. A must-have for fans of the Unova starters.
  • Kyurem ex: Powerful EX card with impressive attacks. This card can play a key role in tournament decks.
  • Thundurus (IR): Illustration Rare with striking design. A dynamic card with a lightning bolt running across the card.
  • Victini (Promo): Available in the Card File Set, this promo card has a unique shine that can only be found in this set.

Why Are These Cards So Unique?

What makes this set truly unique is the fact that the cards do not come in traditional booster boxes. The cards are distributed exclusively through special products such as ETBs , blisters and binders . This makes collecting certain cards a lot more challenging, but also more interesting.

Especially the promo cards of Victini, Thundurus and Tornadus are expected to be very popular. These cards have a unique shine and are only released in specific products.

My Personal Favorites

As a collector I am particularly excited about the Zekrom ex (BWR) and Reshiram ex (BWR) cards. The new 'Black White Rare' rarity is a visual spectacle, with intense holofoil effects and a dark, almost sinister look.

In addition, I expect the Victini promo cards to increase in value quickly. These cards not only have a unique shine, but are also hard to come by. They are only in the Illustration Collection , which means you have to invest a lot to get them complete.
