Can You Weigh Paldean Fates? My Honest Experience

You've probably been there: you're holding a booster pack in your hand and wondering if you can guess what's inside. Can you weigh Paldean Fates to see if it's a hit? I tried it myself and I can tell you right away: no, it doesn't work.

How does weighing Pokémon packs work?

As you know, people have been trying to weigh booster packs for years. The idea is that holos, Full Arts or Shiny cards are heavier than standard cards.

However, The Pokémon Company is not stupid. They have been using weight correction for a while now, for example with code cards or extra cardboard. As a result, the weight of a rare card is not so noticeable anymore.

I have weighed several Paldean Fates packs myself with a precision scale. And yes, there were small differences. But a 'heavy' pack gave me three commons just as well as a light one. So it really doesn't say anything.

What makes Paldean Fates extra difficult?

Paldean Fates is not a standard set. It has Shiny Vault cards , and they can also be on the reverse slot. That means you don't have one chance at a hit, but two.

That makes weighing even more unreliable. Reverse holos and shiny cards also weigh hardly more than regular cards. Everything is so close together that you as a regular collector will not find a pattern in it.

What can you do better?

I always say buy what you like , not what is so called 'heavy'. Want better odds? Then you better:

• Go for an Elite Trainer Box or Premium Collection
• Buy individual packs from a reliable shop
• Or just buy the card you are looking for directly

I personally prefer to buy sealed ETBs or displays. That way I know for sure that everything is divided fairly. And yes, sometimes there is nothing in it but the tension is real. That is what it is all about.

My advice : don't weigh Paldean Fates packs. It doesn't work and it takes the fun out of the game. Open packs the way it was meant to be opened - with fun, curiosity and maybe a little luck. 🚀
