Release date and set details

Shining Fates was released on February 19, 2021 as part of the Sword & Shield series. The regular set has 73 cards, with card 073/072 as the secret rare. The set also includes the Shiny Vault, a subset of 122 cards numbered from SV001 to SV122/SV122, all with the Shiny Holo Rare rarity. All seven cards in this top come from that Shiny Vault, with Charizard VMAX (SV107/SV122) as the clear outlier. The Japanese counterpart

In Japan this set was released as Shiny Star V on November 20, 2020, more than three months before the English release on February 19, 2021. In the Japanese version too, Charizard VMAX (308/190) is the main chase card.

What is the most expensive card from Shining Fates?

In raw condition, Charizard VMAX (SV107/SV122) is the most expensive card from Shining Fates, worth around €119 in near mint condition (September 2026).

Once you look at PSA 10, Charizard VMAX stays the most expensive at around €209, but the rest of the order changes. Suicune (SV022/SV122) is the second most expensive card in PSA 10 at around €131, even though Morpeko and Yamper rank higher in raw value. That's because Suicune is rarer in graded condition than its raw price would suggest.

Conclusion

In short, the top of Shining Fates revolves almost entirely around Charizard VMAX (SV107/SV122): the most expensive card in the set in raw condition, and by far the most valuable in PSA 10 too. Morpeko and Yamper follow as raw cards just under a hundred euros, while Suicune claims a surprisingly strong second place in graded condition. Ditto VMAX, Galarian Ponyta, and Galarian Rapidash complete the list and are still very buildable with values starting around twelve euros.

Shining Fates was never released as a regular booster box, only through Elite Trainer Boxes, tins, and other special products. That makes this a set where you mostly hunt for individual cards rather than gambling on packs.
