This set introduced 83 new cards and introduced the concept of Dark Pokémon , such as Dark Charizard and Dark Blastoise, which allowed for a unique play style. It was the first set to include a secret rare card: Dark Raichu (85/82), a card designed by Wizards of the Coast and not Nintendo. This is likely the reason the set's release was delayed. Due to its dark theme and innovative additions, Team Rocket remains one of the most iconic sets in early Pokémon TCG history.
