Above you will find all the sets from the Base Set run released in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This is where the game began: Base Set, Jungle, Fossil and the sets that followed directly on from them. The mechanics are simple compared with today — no ex, no V, no special rarities — and that is exactly what makes these cards recognisable.

What to watch for in this run is the print. Three versions of the same card exist from the oldest sets: 1st Edition with a stamp, Shadowless without the stamp but also without the shadow along the frame, and Unlimited with that shadow. Same card, same number, three different markets. So look at that first before judging any card from this period.
